Sony Ericsson $499.99 for upgrade reasonable or not?

Recent post by engadget mobile, showing documentation of the sony ericsson x1 being $499.99 for an upgrade. In my opinion this is ridiculous for device that old and when x2 is going to be annouced. But than again its rogers. Drop ur thoughts about the device and pricing.

the X1 is outdated by now, they missed the boat huge. Satio looks cool, kinda shaped like the c905

october is the release of the new SE's although there is no word regarding which carrier will have it in canada, assuming bell and telus launch their new networks in september.

Yup, Sony definitly messed up the launch of this phone. Wait for the X2 I think or buy and Android :)

Personally, I don't find it acceptable for Rogers to offer the upgrade price at $499 - when I can buy it on ebay.ca for $495 without even shopping around.
I have no probs paying top dollar for a phone if its newly released, but you can get a Nokia N97 for $604 on Amazon - WAY better device in my opinion.

Hold out for something better or shop around - Rogers isn't doing you any favours with that price.

wouldn't say the N97 is way better than the X1, it is better in some many areas, but then the N97 itself is not that amazing for the price.

the X1 is too expensive at rogers, but then when was rogers cheap? wait for the satio.

A few guys at have used the X1 for some time now (Testing ) and although its a kewl phone, there isn't the super excitement you'd expect from a phone is this league.

I'd recommend a ebay purchased X1 at a cheaper price, or buying from Rogers (puke), keeping it in great condition for resale value.

even the phone is much older than the current lot out there, it still packs a nice set of features and specs which says much. Still with the new SE phones coming in october or so, I would hold off and wait then compare.

well SE revealed the phones and there are a lot of reviews of the satio, although pre-production units with an october 09 ship date, the other 2 are quarter 4 2009.

of course there is no concrete evidence that rogers will carry these phones, but they are being released and will probably be avaible to buy as unlocked phones.

question is, will telus or bell, once their new gsm network is up and running, over any actual good gsm phones such as these new SEs or any other smartphones.

from what i've hear both of those are great. I think with the X1 there were too many delays and better touchscreen devices are out.
