how are they? their plans are solid and they have some decent phones as well. My girlfriend is gettting pretty fed up with bell and i was hoping for some feedback on their coverage in Calgary as well as their customer service. we do travel around Canada and the US occasionally which is why I decided to stick with virgin mobile, but with that 20 cents per minute north American calling... I am definitely considering them for myself as well.
so, any horror stories? tales of mobile heroism? what do you think of them so far?

well i'm in before the trolls.....lol
Mobi is fantastic, I have yet to find any issues with their service. The rates are unbeatable, the $10 unlimited data is amazing.....I haven't found a fault yet!
cheers!

No real complaints here in Ottawa. Data speeds seem to be good too.

Thats a relief to hear.
She still has a ways to go on her contract, but she did like the Motorola Spice. I'll check back here when it gets close to the time for her to change. Thanks guys! Don't hesitate to keep the comments coming though, I am sure I won't be the only one to find this information useful.

Mobilicity calgary coverage needs lot more work.
I updated the coverage map a bit with coverage mapper app. you can check it at
http://www.coveragemapper.com/map.php?mccmnc=302320
whole east part of downtime is low signal zone. with low signal, indoor coverage is poor in east part of downtown
update: 14dec2011 - they got a new tower in downtown east, so indoor reception is much much better now

I'm bumping this as I want to know to how they are. Do they get a lot of dropped calls? Trouble getting a signal in many places?
I'm also in Calgary.
From the number of views on this I think a LOT of people want to know. So please, any Mobi customers, tell us how they are!
Forgive the x-files quote, "I want to believe!". Alas, 2 positive posts is not enough to go on!

I can only speak for myself and my own experience.
I find the call clarity to be excellent, and have experienced just one dropped call in the 8 months I've used the service.
There are coverage issues in the suburbs, and inside large buildings (the high frequency signal doesn't penetrate through buildings very well).
But since I live and work in downtown Vancouver, the coverage issues are minimal for me.
If you leave the coverage area, you're roaming on Rogers, but the roaming charges are inexpensive.

I live in Vancouver. The coverage isn't the greatest, but considering the price, I got what I expected when I signed up. In my house, I only get decent reception on the top floor and near the front of the main floor. No reception at all in the basement.

All depends how often you leave your "local" area. Because in case you travel a lot, then probably Virgin or Koodo are your best choice. Otherwise Mobi is your best choice: best prices (now 50% off!), the service's quality is excellent. Maybe take Mobi and another line "pay as go" with another provider to avoid roaming fees. Good luck!;)

Well, as far as I have used, Mobi is definitely great from all perspectives. So far, I have not come up with any sort of issues. Furthermore, you have the added goodies of the best rate available with other options such as the unlimited data browsing for just $10.Do they allow conference call (http://www.onconference.com)'s ?

Check the Calgary coverage (http://www.cellmapper.net/map.php?MCC=302&MNC=320&LAC=102,152).
IN TORONTO, even at major intersections - Victoria Park & Steeles, Victoria Park & Lawrence, Yonge & Steeles, Steeles & Keele... signal sucks while outside.
I put up with it, because of the unlimited prices... but I've though about switching a dozen times (a month) in the last year.

regarding travelling: Look at the fine print always. Roaming + overage charges with other providers make mobi a good choice when compared to others. Roaming in the states for 20 cents a min is pretty cool.
Another cool feature is it is impossible to get a 100 dollar phone bill unexpectedly, because mobi only let's you roam if you put money down on your account. Instead of capitalizing on human error, mobi limits you to protect you from insane unreasonable bills.

So far so good in Calgary. Though had some data issues for a few days while they were doing network upgrade a while ago. Would prefer them putting up maintenance notice on their website or somehow communicate to us so as to set expectation when there's an issue. Only learned about the network upgrade through their former CEO Dave twitter messages (it's nice he did that) otherwise would have started to doubt Mobilicity quality.

I've experienced very good reception (at least 2 bars) at 2 of those intersection.
In fact I've had perfect reception while driving from the edge of Mississauga (Winston Churchill) all along the 401 to about Kennedy.
Outdoors, indoors it's all pretty solid for me. I have an HTC Snap upgrading soon to Galaxy Nexus (hopefully reception stays the same)

just visited some friends in calgary and I must say the reception was amazing, at least compared to the reception in Vancouver's downtown core where I live.

I have been out of area of Toronto, went skiing, and the CDN Roaming was fantastic, messaging and talking, no issue. But beware to set dual mode, not only 3G and load your wallet.
Indeed I don't have coverage in elevators and some stairs, but it is ok, even with rogers I had some coverage issue in my building

Of course CDN. Roaming is fantastic, it's Rogers! The vast sums of money their wireless division has brought in was in part invested in a really good network.

Their coverage is not good as WindMobile. I was with Mobilicity not too long ago, and they have poor signal and coverage.
I live in Brampton, ON. and it show in their map that they cover Mississauga Rd and Williams Parkway and i bid you that you will have poor signal in not at all.
I switch back to WindMobile with $40 Miracle plan that ends today and i am happy with. will never leave Wind and more.
can't go wrong with $40, Un DATA, Un Calling to Canada and USA, Global TEXT, Voice mail and other small thing.

I have suffered a lot with RoBelLus before I reached Mobi, now I have a restful life and better sleep :-)
Cost is so low and the service, the best in GTA. No complaints since I joined them.
Hope Mobilicity stay in Canada for ever :)
