Why the iphone and not android? Fido is supposed to be the discount brand, and Apple doesn't do "discount"...

Android wouldn't be suitable for Fido's customer base at this time. Not until HTC whips up an entry level Android smartphone at best... even then... I don't think I'd recommend it for a first-time smartphone user.

how come? Isn't it easy to understand and use?

I compare it to the iPhone OS. Both are extremely powerful and capable systems. iPhone OS is dumbed down for the masses. It's so simple and basic at times that I used to cringe LOL... Android has a lot of ins and outs that a first-time smartphone user would miss for sure and... like quick browsing tips, how to clear up unused apps to release more free RAM, etc. etc.

I can't really describe it better than that... I drop an iPhone 3G in my dads hands, he can figure it out - browsing, music, making calls, easy for him. I drop my Magic in his hands, he's scratches his head and isn't sure where to start.

so incredibly true, maybe that's why it sells so well.

I thought Fido was not going to be selling the iPhone anymore and they were just going to focus on low end devices? However, I guess they want to reach all markets and get as many people on board as possible before the new players come on board

My comments on android aside, why is a high end product like the iphone doing on the discount carrier? Makes no sense... unless they are trying to trick buyers into thinking they are getting a bargain...

What's the cheapest plan for the iPhone 3gs?
Can you use the $20-$25 monthly plan for 3 years?

yes but you must have a data plan too, so i went $25+25+5(100 mms, apparently the unlimited text doesn't cover the mms as i was told)

Oh, ok thanks.

So I asked and the cheapest plan adds up to $45. Voice and Data.
If you don't get the data, the iPhone 3gs will be $399.

Now, I read on another forum that you can pay the first month plan of $45, which is the Voice and Data, but on the next month, you can get rid of the Data.
Is this true, and if it is, are there any additional cost to getting rid of the data plan?

I think when you sign the 3 year agreement, your signing for the data as well. I just got the iphone 3G and Im stuck with my data.

I wonder what would happen if you lose your iphone / gave it away for another phone, if they would take off the iphone.

Ill call next month to see if they can take it off.
