The CBC contacted us and wants some feedback from those who have received any unwanted premium text messages.
These are the opt-in jokes, contests, quizzes, surveys, horoscopes, sports scores etc that get sent to your mobile.
Back in March (http://mobilesyrup.com/2009/03/07/crtc-to-hammer-down-premium-text-messages-rules/), Montreal-based non profit group, Union des consommateurs, submitted a request to the CRTC to get a more firm on the companies who sent out “premium” text messages. After signing up people are being billed between $16 to $35 a month and cannot find a way to cancel the service. Some customers don’t remember actually signing up and are still getting charged.
If you have any experience with unwanted Premium Text Messages, the
CBC Television consumer show, Marketplace, would like to talk to you.
