Hi all. I just have a few questions about what unlimited mobile browser really means.

I am planning on buying the Palm Pre when it is going to come out and i was thinking of getting a voice plan and combine it with the Fun 20 pack. Now what unlimited mobile browser really mean? Can I just go on the internet on the Pre and browse any sites and I am good just as long as I am not downloading anything and no YouTube?

Also how much is 500mb for a data plan? Is that enough for a casual user?

Thank you all.

Hey there,

So the Fun 20 doesn't cover smart phones. You would need one of their data plans. I'm not sure what they offer anymore. All the carriers have changed them a lot.

500mb is more then sufficient for most users. The only thing i would avoid if you have that kind of plan is a lot of video streaming. It can be very data intensive.

Otherwise, go for the 500mb plan. You said you aren't going to go on Youtube, so you're set.

web browsing itself doesn't use too much data.

Kronk pretty much said it. If you plan on heavy use you can also go with the unlimited data and email for $30 a month. If you plan on viewing web pages with a little downloads and streaming, 500MB is tons

If you're looking to get the Pre with the appropriate plan, it won't be entirely useful now to figure out how much you'll be spending. A lot can change in a few months time so I'd check out what they can offer you via a store or calling them and seeing what's the best rate they can give you.

I find 500 MB of data just fine for what I do on my iPhone. Last month I used it pretty heavily (web surfing, e-mail, app usage like Facebook and such) and only used 130 MB. I think you would only need an unlimited data package if you get big attachments, download a lot, and stream video.
