new entrance competition for Rogers/Bell/TELUS:

New Canadian wireless entrant Dave Wireless (Data & Audio Visual Enterprises Wireless Inc.) says they will start to roll out their offering next year, first in Toronto then expanding to as many as 10 other major cities.

Similar to Globalive and Public Mobile, DAVE Wireless will offer phones with no-contract service and unlimited voice and text messaging; free voice mail and long distance within Canada. But the most amazing part of of them announcing plans is that they will offer more than regular cellphones and Smartphones. Dave Wireless will offer BlackBerry devices and also handsets running Google’s Android platform.

I wonder if DAVE wireless will be the winner in all this. I have yet to hear that of Globalive offering these "premium" devices. Plus I think DAVE spent only 200+ million while GL spend well over 700 million.

I don't know I know that Dave is only in major select cities I believe. GLW was trying to be national I guess thats why they spent so much. Hmmm it will be interesting.

If DAVE Wireless can come out with an Andoid device they we should expect Bell and TELUS to launch before them correct?

I think Bell is coming out with a Samsung Andoid this summer. That is the rumour I heard.

How des a new entrant have the pull to get these? I guess Bitove has enough cash on hand. I can understand a BlackBerry, probably a pearl or Flip. But an Android... will it be the Dream?

I am guessing it would be a Motorola or Samsung Android device on DAVE.

Great news. But all of these companies need to launch soon, my contract is expiring this summer and I want a good plan with a nice phone... I'm sick of Belus and Rogers.

I figure they'd pick the Magic if they didn't offer both. The Dream is a great device but I think the Magic will sell better, it's more iPhone-esque.

that's true, who knows - perhaps they will even beat TELUS or Bell to the Android game
