I am using an unlocked and rooted HTC Desire on the Fido network and have had 0 problems until about 2 days ago. I was previously using the unlocked stock Telus phone. But 2 days ago I rooted the phone and updated the OS from Froyo 2.2 to Gingerbread 2.3.4.

I now see a 3G icon on my status bar and my calls have a touch more low level static noise to them. Has anyone had this problem on the Fido network? I am using a 3G SIM card, but I am not sure if it needs to be updated or something. My gf had a similar problem and Fido got her a new 3G card in place of her old 2G and her calls got better not "great" but better. I was just wondering if anyone else has had a static issue with Fido and what they did to solve it.

I'd say the SIM swap can't hurt....

On a 2 year contract, plus I really like Fido. I think I will play SIM swap with some people and see if the call quality is better.
