Here is first hands on review of it ,its runing an older OMAP3630 1ghz processor which is a little better than the first gen snapdragon chips. If you watch the video you can see that the MeeGo platform has potential and makes you wonder why they shifting towards wp7. This os seems be able to handle things pretty well even runing on 2 yr old hardware. If they price this $450-500 it should sell well.

Engadet has a video of this phone and it's rather impressive. I loved my old dumb Nokia phone and this seems to bring the simplicity into the smart phone arena for Nokia. I really like the design as well, would love to see and feel it first hand though.

I'm curious how useful the notification screen is. I'm used to Android and Symbian where they have widgets to update any info I want. I question the usefulness of having all updates mixed together in the notification screen. I find that with FriendStream on my Android phone, I have the option of having it display both Twitter and Facebook updates together. I prefer having them separate. I'd be interested to find out more details about the notification screen and what flexibility it has in perhaps grouping certain notifications together instead of mixing them all up.

Yeah they better have a good way of separating the information or else's what's the point of having all your notifications in one place. They should separate the different notifications with tabs that you can click on, similar to a widget. By the looks of it they should of killed off symbian way sooner and focused on meego.

In think the hardware on this device looks fantastic. Nice to see something unique. The software appears to be pretty sophisticated (it is Linux after all) but I think I'd get a little bored with the UI after a while. It reminds me of iOS with the Mobile Notifier (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SRU6_QnwNCE&feature=youtube_gdata_player) jailbreak app. Still, it's reassuring to know that Nokia is still designing some good hardware.

My notifications are for email, text or app specific push notifications: I don't have a twit or FB account. It seems to me though that if your a moderate to heavy user of these services then it would seem ideal to 'pool' them into one display source or page and differentiate them by simple little icons like they have now. It seems cumbersome and there are too many pages/swipes to go through to get to your apps then. Windows seems to do the same now in Mango and it's slick and easy to use and navigate. I thought the idea was to make it simpler and integrated but you seem to want to have everything separated and have too many steps involved: or do I misunderstand?

After watching a video of the n9 in action, it seems that the notification screen is just all notifications showing up with little icons that are the only indication whether the notification is from fb,an email or txt .
What i was saying is that if they tabed lets say fb to 3 notifications and made it in blue and used red for email . That way you would know which notification you are reading. Also giving you a way to increase how many notifications are showing per each type, so if you need 10 lines for email notificatons and 2-3 for fb you can customize it to your needs.

Just read that you will be able to run Android apps on Meego , so there shouldn't be any shortage of apps that might occur since Meego is brand new os.

I wonder how well Android apps can show off MeeGo or the N9. It should allow the phone to be fairly useful while we await native MeeGo or Qt apps.

I also wonder how MeeGo handles Android apps. My understanding of Android app management is that apps don't normally close. They just suspend and remain in memory so they start up faster the next time you need it. From what I see from the N9, you can kill the apps outright on the task manager. I'm not sure if this is how you normally manage apps in MeeGo or if it is just for killing rogue apps.

Both Android and meego are Linux based OS, and the way n9 will run Android apps is through something called alien dalvik. It is similar to win7 ability to run a virtual version of xp, the only limiting factor here is the outdated omap processor, but if Nokia optimise meego enough it should run smoothly. As for Android and task manager, there is no problem in killing apps in the background on Android, I use an app called task killer and it closes all non system dependant apps. I don't really kill apps unless I'm gonna do something that's gonna stress my phone to its max like runing flash or playing a game. Android does a good job in managing its memory, so I don't see why another Linux based OS wouldn't do the same.

here is a demonstration of the n9 camera against the n8. By the looks n8 does have more natural looking colors both in still picture and video.

Anyone know if this phone will be available in America/Canada? It seems like it is only going to be released in some regions only.

MeeGo is definitely better the Symbian in my opinion. It reminds me a lot of iOS though, with the apps in a grid and the tabs for webpages looking like the iPhones browser. I smell a lawsuit on their hands... Apple will sue for anything.
