Is it possible to buy a Bell HTC Incredible S and use it on the Rogers network? Or should I just pay the Early Termination tax of $500 and just move over to Bell. If I buy the phone outright from Bell I'm looking at $500 anyway so either way, makes no difference.

Nothing special about my plan atm, have the MY10 200 min package that all the carriers are offering until the end of the month.

How's the data speeds on the Bell network? Rogers has not impressed me so far. Downright slow actually, feels like dial-up. This was on a Galaxy S Cappy so no slouch either. Should I stick out out with Rogers and see how LTE develops or are we years away?

Please advise, I'm genuinely interested in opinions from either camp, Bell or Rogers.

Yes the incredible s will work on Rogers. You will just have to get it unlocked first which will cost you about $20.

I use the Incredible S on Fido (Fido, Rogers, same thing).
And yes it does work. You just need to keep in mind that

1. As the other post states, you need to get it unlocked first, and

2. You need to enter the APN info in settings.

As far as data speed goes, I think it really depends on reception of the area that you're in. I am on the Rogers/Fido network, and I get pretty good reception at work. My co worker sitting next to me has a phone with Bell, and their reception in our work area isn't very good so it's slow. Or I guess it's not slow...but intermittent, which results in slow operations when it comes to data.

Also, something to keep in mind is the $500 early termination fee that you spoke of...early termination fee is however much Rogers quotes you. The Incredible S is $500 + tax. Not sure if you care about the tax, but for some it's a consideration.

And, there is a benefit to staying with one carrier. After your contract expires, you can negotiate with them to get a better monthly plan than what they advertise. Whereas you go to a new carrier, your only options are the plans they advertise.

I was told early termination tax would be $500 + tax + last month with them..
Either way, the difference is minimal considering the potential benefits of switching.

How are the data speeds on the HTC IS on Bell compared to a similar device on Rogers? I think this is what I'm wondering about.

Thanks for your input.

I can confirm that the Incredible S works on the Roger's network.
