Hey All,

Just switched to Koodo from Fido today and picked up the Nexus S in Burnaby. All I can say is one sweet phone! I've only been playing with it for a bit, but it is super smooth. Definitely upgrade from the iPhone 3G. The S-AMOLED screen is gorgeous! But fingerprint prone lol

Back cover is solid, but not a fan of the smoothness. Awaiting my BSE back cover which should sort that out with out covering up the pretty rear end. The Koodo staff wanted me to get a hard shell, but I was not a fan. The phone is too pretty and slick lol

Pictures on the phone look nice, but a bit grainy if you zoom in. Stock android camera app is limited, but I can just pick up another one from the marketplace :)

Have not had any troubles with connections (excluding skytrain in downtown, but thats like a bunker), but have not had it for long, so will see how it goes.

Will post some more comments later after I have used it for a while and probably some pics, if I can get them to turn out well.

Cheers!

Thanks for the little write up. I was considering getting this phone with Koodo also but they don't seem to have any good data plans....

Out of curiosity, would you mind telling me what plan you got and how much is it approximately?

Thanks!

The data plan I got was the unlimited incoming Combo:

-Unlimited incoming calls
-unlimited 5pm evenings and weekends
-unlimited messaging
-unlimited local family calling
-150 anytime minutes
-call display
-call waiting, conference calling, per-second billing

This one was $35. Covers everything i need. Most of my calls that effected my minutes at fido, was oddly enough, between 5 and 7pm. I also text alot.

add-ons
-voicemail ($6)
-data saver

The data saver is the really gem in this plan. For the two years I had my iphone, I never once used more than 400mb of data, but I was getting charged like $30/month for 500 mb. The data saver plan worked perfectly for me:
<5mb = $5
5mb - 100mb = $10
100mb - 200mb = $15
200mb - 300mb = $20
300mb - 500mb = $25
500mb - 1gb = $30
>1gb = $30 + $0.02/mb

Fido offered me a competitive plan, but I would still have had to cancel my contract to get it. Since koodo offered the phone for cheaper, it was cheaper for me to go to koodo :) I also love the idea of the tab...no ECF!

All in all, i'm pretty happy with this purchase, and the phone is damn sexy lol

Hope that helps.

Yeah, that helps a lot..Thanks! I didn't really understand how their data plans worked, but now I get it.

That sounds pretty nice and I really like the Nexus S, but Virgin is offering 200 minutes, unlimited nights and weekends from 6pm, unlimited text & pic messaging, 1GB of data and 10 numbers unlimited nationwide... For $55

Ahhh, I'll have to make my mind up pretty soon I guess.
Nexus S and pay at least $60/Month
OR
Incredible S, for $55/month

Dammit..haha

I have to add to the data plan information for Koodo:
If you don't use any data you pay 0$ so it is:

0MB = 0$
more than 0MB to 5MB = $5
...

Compared to 3$/MB if you don't have this plan I didn't need long time to decide.

I got the Nexus S on Saturday. Unlike you I did get the hardshell case because I know I will drop my phone at some point in the next 2-3 and damned if I'm going to let my clumsiness cost me $400. It's not as bulky as I originally thought, but a warning about the screen protector - it's great quality (barely see it on the screen when it's well-applied), but they got the dimensions slightly wrong. I had to take it off, trim a little off the corners, and now there's some dust and stuff that got stuck to it so it doesn't look great. I'll have to get a new one at some point.

The phone itself is great though. Battery life is pretty solid (that was my main concern), Android takes some learning but it's worth it, the screen looks great, and it's pretty fast.

I must be behind the times if Koodo has the Nexus S...hmmm well it's a good look for them. I am already switched over to Telus thanks to Mobilesyrup :D

Well looking forward to another weekend. There are some great apps for this thing, and I support those that I believe I should.

He probably means if you zoom into the picture after it was taken. :p
