really nothing beats them -- largest resource and plenty of links to other people's sites, 'app stores,' and all that

As always I agree regarding XDA. I have been reading like crazy during the last week or so the ROM forums looking for a stable one for my Diamond, not sure yet, some interesting ones there :D
