I'm really jonesing for an HTC Desire HD. The only turn off is the battery life, however I'm hearing that a battery from Mugen might make things a little more manageable.
The only problem I have is using 3rd party products with such an expensive phone. Has anyone used a battery from Mugen in their Desire HD's? Is it safe? And most importantly, is it worth pouring 50 bucks into one?

It is safe to use. However, with 1300mAh you won't be able to see a big improvement. I suggest you using a task killer & power saving widgets until larger capacity OEM batteries are available.

Don't bother with task killers, 2.2 handles everything well enough that task killers make no difference to battery life.

Yeah, task killers are useless. I've heard great things about Mugen batteries. HTC isn't great with their battery tech but Mugen batteries tend to last a disproportionately long time given their size. I say go for it.
