Anyone else here excited about having blackberry service on Fido?

I personally can't wait because I prefer Fido's per-second billing over Rogers' per-minute billing.

I love the idea of a blackberry on Fido, but the pearl 8100? I mean come on!
I guess it is a nice change over the 2 year old phones they have though.
Stupid Rogers. There should be a petition. At least Koodo, Solo, and Virgin all get new phones (pretty old really for their father carriers) once in a while.

I agree, to, only if they added the curve and maybe the Bold?

I can't see Fido getting the Bold - to rich for them. Perhaps the BB Flip... I heard that is coming this year

It seems to me that, in general these days at least, Fido does not have a clear smartphone or BlackBerry offering. I'm looking for a new phone and would prefer Fido's new shorter terms and all but with no phone I like, it's too bad.

gah, the blackberry 8100 is kind of antiquated,

we really need the curve, however i have the jack with fido and i adore it, more than my

blackberry 7100 and 7290

although Fido has done away with 3 year terms on most phones, they do still exist on iPhones and when they do launch the BlackBerry (or so I am told). so if you are looking for a BlackBerry getting it with one of the big three may be a better deal, both initial price and plan wise, than Fido (if and when they do launch a BlackBerry).

Yea Fido was supposed to be done away with 3-year terms, now they are bringing them back for the 8100 (is that even worth going on a 3-year term for LOL). I don't think they really know what direction to go in with this brand considering the very frequent policy changes.

Well there have been leaks over at BGR that the BB Curve 8900 will be hitting the Fido brand, i would think this would be true seeing that the Bold will not be on Fido. So maybe Fido brand will have something to look forward to.

Have heard the rumours, if they are true, I wouldn't expect that handset until late in the year.

I think we will see the pearl flip before the curve 8900. The curve will probably come later in 2009. Most likely around the time when another curve is on the horizon :p

The pricing of the pearl is ridiculous especially the 3 year commitment but realistically who really needs the pearl when you can unlock any rogers bold or 8900 and use it on fido!

the handset is coming soon apparently
however they decided to go for 3 year terms in order to maintain and create a larger customer base, with better devices, not necessairly newer ones. as far as i can tell, because many people are choosing to go no contract or prepaid because they want to hold out for globallive and other competitors in the next couple of months, so fido wants to lock in consumers who want these better equipped devices such as the iPhone and the Blackberry 8100.

Honestly releasing a phone that's over 2 years old is something not too thrilling

I have heard sales for teh 8100 are incredibly low (to none). Most people are asking about the BB plans.
