TELUS discontinues the White Nexus S and BlackBerry Bold 9780

TELUS has launched several new devices over the past number of weeks: Samsung Galaxy Note, HTC One S… but it also seems they are clearing stock and making room for future devices. We’ve already seen TELUS put the Galaxy Nexus and Magenta Nokia Lumia 800 on the discontinued list, now a few more have been added to the list: Nexus S in White (TELUS exclusive), BlackBerry Bold 9780 in White and the LG Optimus Chat in Red.

Coming up in the next few days/weeks for TELUS will be the HTC One V and the Samsung Galaxy S III. The One V should be hitting stores later this week/next week, while the GS III will be available sometime “this Summer.”

TELUS comes out with the “Voice and Messaging 30″ plan

TELUS has come out with a similar plan as Bell and Rogers with their “Voice and Messaging 30″ plan for $30/month. This is “in direct response to Rogers” and for those interested, here’s what you included:

- 200 Anytime minutes
- Unlimited Nationwide Family Calling
- Unlimited local Early Evenings and Weekends starting at 6pm
- Unlimited outgoing & incoming text, picture/video messaging
- Caller ID, Voice Mail, Call Waiting & Conference Calling
- Unlimited BBM for BlackBerry smartphones
- Pay per use data for all other smartphones

The fine print states that “Valid until May 31, 2012 for new and existing customers activating or renewing on a month-to-month, 1, 2, or 3 year service agreement.”

TELUS puts the Galaxy Nexus and Magenta Nokia Lumia 800 on the discontinued list

This is interesting. According to an internal document, TELUS has discontinued the Samsung Galaxy Nexus. This was eventually inevitable as the Galaxy S III is coming soon along with potentially five new Nexus devices. TELUS first started to sell the Galaxy Nexus on January 13th, so this “pure Android” has been in market for only five months.

A few weeks ago TELUS’ Brent Johnston, VP of Mobility Solutions, stated to us that “We are very pleased with the sales performance thus far, with Lumia sales meeting our expectations.” However, next on the “To be discontinued” list is the Magenta Nokia Lumia 800. No word on why it’s being discontinued, probably low demand for the colour. If you really want to get your hands on the Magenta 800 you’ll probably find stock available at TELUS locations. In addition, TELUS also exclusively sells the WP7 Mango device in Black and Cyan.

TELUS updates their “OS Upgrade schedule,” says Galaxy SII X 4.0 is expected June 12th

A few weeks ago TELUS created a online document that showed where various handsets stand of receiving the latest OS update. It’s a great idea, shows openness, as they were probably getting hammered by customers asking when their device will be updated. There might be a trend evolving as the first document was dated May 3rd and now a new doc has been uploaded that’s dated May 17th – so we could see TELUS giving updates every 2-weeks.

There has been some important updates to several devices: The “Expected in market date” for the Galaxy SII X to receive Android OS 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich is June 12th, was previously “Early June.” The Samsung Galaxy Note bump to ICS changes from Early June to Late June, plus the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 upgrade to 4.01 is now Late July. In addition, the Xperia Ray 4.0 upgrade to 4.0 shifts from a firm June 11th to “Late June.” As for other platforms, the only new device addition is the Optimus 7 which should be getting some sort of update, possibly the battery fix or Tango, on June 6th.

- No Updates Currently Planned.

Windows Phone:
- Nokia Lumia 800 upgrade is TBA and expected “Expected in market date” Early June
- LG Optimus L7 upgrade is TBA and expected “Expected in market date” June 6th

TELUS releasing the HTC One S on May 17th for an incredible $569.99 no-term

While we thought the $600 retail price tag that Virgin Mobile gave the upcoming HTC One S was good, it seems that TELUS might one-up them. This Android Ice Cream Sandwich device is filled with Beats Audio and will be widely launching in Canada on May 17th – just a mere 3 days from today. According to the internal doc we received it shows that TELUS is coming to market and looking to dominate with a no-term pricing of $569.99. Honestly, 30 bucks is better in your pocket and that’s an amazing price for this phone. Here’s the other price plans you can expect (with a minimum monthly spend of $50 or more):

3-year contract: $99.99
2-year contract: $469.99
1-year contract: $519.99
No-term: $569.99

As for the specs of the One S, this comes with a 1.5 GHz dual-core processor, 1GB RAM, 4.3-inch AMOLED qHD Colour LCD (resolution of 960 x 540), 8MP camera, Wi-fi, 16GB internal storage and also has 25GB of free space on Dropbox.

TELUS to release the HTC One S and One V on May 17th

Here you go Canada. We can now confirm that TELUS will also be releasing the HTC One S and the HTC One V on the same date: Thursday, May 17th. What is still unknown is the complete no-contract and contract pricing. However, we’ve known that Bell and Virgin plan on releasing the One S on the 17th for $600 outright, and Bell currently is selling the One V for $0 on a 3-year and $300 outright.

HTC One S and One V dummy devices arrive at TELUS, launch imminent

TELUS posted the Android OS 4.0 powered HTC One V and One S on their site as “coming soon” last week. There was no official pricing or launch date listed for either of these Beats Audio devices, but we’re hearing they’ll both be available on May 17th. A small step forward has been achieved as the dummy devices have made their way into TELUS locations. The One S should be around $600 outright, while the One V might come in at $300 outright.

HTC One V pops up on TELUS’ site, coming “later this month”

Hot on the heels of Bell’s release of the entry-level ICS powered Android HTC One V comes news about Telus’ version of the same phone. In the press release that just went out for the Bell version of the One V, it is stated that the Telus model “will be available later this month.”

While neither a release date or price was mentioned in the release, evidence that “later this month” is actually about to become “available now” has popped up on FutureShop. Their product page for the Telus HTC One V, which has a black finish to differentiate itself from Bell’s grey model, went live today. As opposed to Bell offering the device for $0 on a three-year term, it looks like the Telus model is going to cost a little bit more ($29.99), at least at the outset.

TELUS HTC One S and V pops up on their support section, one step closer to launch

The HTC One Series is getting ready for lots of Canadian love. Rogers just released the LTE-enabled One X and the One S and V will be heading towards several carriers over the next couple weeks. TELUS seems to be prepping themselves for the upcoming releases of both Beats integrated OS 4.0 devices as they’ve popped up on the business support section on their website, but unfortunately when you click through they lead to dead links.

It’s expected, but not confirmed, that the One V will be launching on May 3rd for about $300, and the One S will be available around the May 17th time period for approximately $600 outright.

TELUS BlackBerry Curve 9380 upgrade to OS 7.1.0.336 now available

Not really sure how many TELUS customers have the all-touch BlackBerry Curve 9380, but the device has been updated to OS version 7.1.0.336. If you want to keep up with the latest OS then you can go forth and upgrade, just make sure you back up your 9380 before proceeding. Bell recently put this BlackBerry on End of Life status, but TELUS is selling the Curve 9380 for $0.00 on a 3-year and $369.99 outright.
