SaskTel to launch the HTC One S “Roughriders Edition” for $549.99 outright

The “HTC One S Roughriders Edition” is heading to SaskTel and rumours are that it’ll be available next week. The good news for those in Saskatchewan is that the regional carrier has listed their prices of this Android OS 4.0 powered device on their website. Here they are – the no-contract is the currently the cheapest in Canada:

No term: $549.99
1-year contract: $499.99
2-year contract: $449.99
3-year contract: $99.99

Nice addition to their lineup! Look for it in a few days.

HTC One S “Roughriders Edition” coming to SaskTel

This is awesome. Not only has SaskTel signed up to release the HTC One S, but they’ve dreamed up the fancy name and called it the “Roughriders Edition.” The specs are the same what TELUS, Virgin, Bell and Fido have launched but SaskTel says their One S will offer “Rider junkies” a “specially wrapped box with a Riderized graphic and the full Rider schedule”, have the One S pre-loaded with the official Roughriders mobile app (gives you live scores, team stats, player info), plus Rider ringtones, wallpaper and a free Riders case.

There press release we received gave no word on pricing or when this will launch, probably in the next few days. Good show. Perhaps the Riders will win the Cup this year.

HTC One V launched by SaskTel, can be yours for $270

Ice Cream Sandwich has arrived on the shelves at SaskTel. The HTC One V has been released – the second carrier to launch the device in Canada – for free on a 3-year and hits a $269.99 outright. This device has Beats Audio, Sense 4.0, 3.7-inch Super LCD display, 5MP camera and packs a 1Ghz Snapdragon processor. Respectable specs and price point for an entry-level Android.

SaskTel releases the Samsung Galaxy S II HD LTE

Heads up for those SaskTel customers… The Samsung Galaxy S II HD LTE is now available. Until their LTE network gets rolled out later this year, this LTE-capable device will connect to their HSPA+ 4G network. The good news is that it’ll be upgraded to OS 4.0, but has OS 2.3 packed into it today. Other specs have it with a 4.65-inch Super AMOLED display (720 x 1280 resolution), 1.5 Ghz dual core processor, 8MP camera that shoots 1080p HD videos. The price is set at $129.99 on a 3-year and hits a high of $569.99 outright. You’ll probably see a price drop over the next few weeks as SaskTel has also committed to launch the Galaxy S III sometime this Summer.

OS 4.0 upgrade for the SaskTel Samsung Galaxy S II now available

Looks like the Ice Cream Sandwich love is spreading out to SaskTel customers today. We’ve been getting various tips that Samsung Galaxy S II users can now upgrade to OS 4.0. SaskTel confirmed this news on their site… so if you have a GSII you can go forth and update via Keis.

SaskTel also notes that they are “working to obtain the Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) platform for several phones,” but doesn’t give an indication of which devices – probably the upcoming GS II HD LTE.

SaskTel to release the HTC One V for $270 outright

The HTC One V will was released yesterday by Bell and will probably hit other carriers next week. SaskTel has posted the Ice Cream Sandwich Android device on their site, still “coming soon,” but has posted up their price plans. Similar to Bell’s with it being available for free on a 3-year and tops out at wickedly affordable $269.99 outright – this is $30 less than Bell is selling it for. This is the entry-level unibody designed Android that also has Beats Audio and Sense 4.0, 5MP camera that shoots 720p HD videos, 3.7-inch Super LCD display (480 x 800), 1 GHz processor, weighs 120 grams and comes with 25GB of Dropbox storage.

Solid pricing at $269.99.

SaskTel to release the “LTE Ready” Samsung Galaxy S II HD LTE

Regional carrier SaskTel will be launching their LTE network in Saskatchewan sometime during the “fall of 2012.” Phase 1 will include Regina and Saskatoon, and surrounding areas. Then they’ll continue the rollout into “other urban and rural areas starting in 2013 based on the demand.”

One of their first devices that will be LTE enabled, allowing customers to potentially reach peak download speed of “100 megabits per second (Mbps) and 50 Mbps upload” will be the Samsung Galaxy S II HD LTE. This Android device was just released by Bell, and SaskTel has stated this is “Coming Soon” on their website. They do note this is “LTE Ready (pending LTE network launch),” so until they go live you’ll fallback to their 4G HSPA+ network speeds.

As for specs, the GS II HD LTE runs OS 2.3 Gingerbread but will be upgraded to OS 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. the display is 4.65-inches Super AMOLED with a resolution of 720 x 1280, 1.5Ghz dual core processor, 8MP camera, 2MP front-facing camera, 1GB RAM and Wi-fi. The price is also listed at $129.99 on a 3-year and tops out at $569.99 outright.

SaskTel Samsung Galaxy S II upgrade to OS 4.0 gets bumped to “mid May”

If you’re with SaskTel you’re probably patiently waiting for the official upgrade to OS 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich to be pushed through to your Galaxy S II. This was supposed to arrive “mid to late April 2012,” but it now seems that you might be waiting a bit longer. SaskTel has updated their site with a notice that states “We’re working to obtain the Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) platform for several phones.We expect this update to be available for the Samsung Galaxy S II mid May 2012.”

No reason for the delay was mentioned and hopefully it’s not impacting other carriers.

Update: Samsung Galaxy Rugby now available at SaskTel for $239.99 outright

SaskTel has posted a new device on their website with the always familiar “coming soon”. The rugged Android-powered Samsung Galaxy Rugby has even been priced. Just no word on it’s official launch date. However, it should be soon as both Bell and Rogers will be releasing it this week. The Galaxy Rugby runs Gingerbread and no sign of a a future upgrade, but can handle all sorts of drops, bumps, dust, water and scratches as it’s IP67 certified. As for the prices, SaskTel has this for $79.99 on a 3-year and ranges upward to $239.99 outright.

Update: SaskTel has pulled down the coming soon label and released this rugged Android device. More info here via SaskTel

HTC One S coming to SaskTel

The HTC One S will be coming soon to Bell, Virgin Mobile, TELUS, Fido and now you can add regional carrier SaskTel to the list. Deep within the HTC Canada website is the spec sheet for the One S with a SaskTel logo. This should be available sometime this month – still no word on pricing or a firm release date – and will come loaded with Android OS 4.0 and the new Sense 4.0.

Other notable specs of the One S have it with a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED display (resolution of 960×540), 1.5 GHz dual-core processor, 1GB RAM, 8MP that captures 1080p HD videos with a 1.3MP front-facing camera and 7.95 mm thin. We’ve had some hands-on time with this Android, check it out here.
