Primus releases HTC Magic+ and Nokia Surge

For those interested in giving Primus a go – or if you’re already with them – they have just added two devices to their lineup. Certainly not the newest phones on the block but a great addition.

The first is the Nokia Surge 6790, a good messaging device. This was launched by Rogers way back in October of last year and has a 2.4-inch screen, full slide-out QWERTY keypad, 2.0-megapixel camera, IM, 2.5mm jack, Bluetooth 2.0 capabilities, holds up to 16GB with a microSD card and weighs in at 124 grams. This can be yours for $50 on a 3-year; $149.00 on a 2-year; $199.00 on 1-year and an OK price of $249.00 no-contract.

Next up is the addition on an Android. The HTC Magic+ hits Primus for the following price plans and comes with a 3.2-inch touchscreen display (resolution of 320 x 480), full QWERTY keyboard, 3.2 megapixel camera, GPS and Wi-Fi: 3-year contract: $79.00; 2-year contract: $399.00; 1-year contract: $449.00 and No contract: $599.00

Primus offers up Nokia 2680 for $0.00 on 3-year

Primus has released a new entry-level device to their lineup. The Nokia 2680 is a slider phone that measures 99mm x 47mm x 16mm and weighs just over 80 grams. Features include Bluetooth capabilities, speakerphone, VGA camera, GPRS Web browser, MP3 Player, Calculator, Organizer and FM radio. The screen resolution is 128 x 160 pixels.

Primus signs new contract with Rogers, set to release Smartphones

Primus has signed a new contract with Rogers Wireless that will see them increase their lineup of devices to include Smartphones. They are targeting a possible launch date around the early spring 2010 time frame. This is great news as the best phone they currently have is the Nokia 5310.

A couple other notable pieces of info from this new agreement are that Primus will increase to cover 94% of Canada, enhanced voice and text packages, picture messaging (MMS), web browsing and ring tones are all coming.

Rob Warden, Vice President Residential Marketing and Sales for Primus Canada said “Primus is constantly striving to provide its customers with enhanced telecommunications services and the utmost in quality and service. Our expanded wireless offering meets our mobile customers’ needs and is a direct reflection of that commitment and focus.”

Primus releases old school Nokia 2760

If you’re looking to truly go back to the past you can go sign up with Primus, they’ve just released the Nokia 2760. I mean this is just above a basic phone and the only reason it’s not considered basic is because it has an MP3 player and FM radio.

Honestly though, there are so many other great flip phones out there at a better price point. You can get this free on a 2 or 3-year contract. $49.95 on a 1-year contract or $99.95 month-to month. Overall dimensions of this beast are 87mm x 45mm x 21 mm with a weight of 80.4 grams.

Features include a VGA camera (4x zoom) that has a video recorder, Bluetooth-enabled, text messages, multimedia messages and email, however internal screen size is only 128 x 160, external screen is 96 x 68 with a whopping 11 MB internal memory. On a good note, this does come with your standard phone features like calendar, to-do list, notes, calculator, alarm and stopwatch.

Just remember before you spend any money on this that you’ll have this for a few years. Do you really want to be stuck with a phone that first came out well over 2 years ago? More here at Primus

Primus kinda doubles minutes in latest offer

Primus has set forth their latest offer by throwing double minutes into the mix, well kinda. 3 phones are available with the following prices based on a 3-year plan: Nokia 5300 XpressMusic for $39.95, Motorola W510 $19.95 and the Nokia 6085 for $0.00.

Now the monthly plans are as follows with minutes:
$20/month: 200 minutes now increased to a total of 400 minutes with offer
$25/month: 250 minutes now increased to a total of 500 minutes with offer
$35/month: 350 minutes now increased to a total of 700 minutes with offer
$50/month: 600 minutes now increased to a total of 1200 minutes with offer

In addition to the above they throw in free text messages (up to a max up 2,500), $0.05 long distance minutes, Air Miles, Call Waiting and Conference Calling.

Now before you get all excited and think you are getting a stellar deal, one must read the fine print: “A $6.95 monthly system access fee, E911 fee, taxes, long distance, additional airtime, calling features, roaming, text messaging and data usage charges are billed separately…. A $200 dollar early cancellation fee applies… $25 activation fee applies…” and the kicker of this plan is that it’s only double minutes for the first year of the plan:

“*Double your minutes applies for the first 12 months of your 2-3 year contract term.”

Primus offers free cell with Air Miles promo offer

Primus is stepping up their game and offering new promo. It involves getting some Air Miles for those who are keen collectors and bother to cash them in.

If you sign with Primus on a 1, 2, or 3 year plan before October 31st you’ll an additional 1000 Airmiles. Also, you will score yourself a free cell and Bluetooth accessories. The plans start at $25 for 250 anytime minutes per month.

Andrew Day of Primus Canada said “Providing our customers with generous bonus offers allows us to add extra value to their everyday services. By offering 1,000 bonus AIR MILES reward miles, Collectors will be able to redeem quickly for the rewards they want.”

Primus Wireless offers 6 months free incoming for new subscriptions

Primus is offering up to 6 free months of incoming, a free car charger and case, 100 Air Miles or 2000 Aeroplan Miles. Basic plans start at 15 bucks and go up to 50. You can also stack on additional features such as voicemail and texting. Read the fine print as they have included a generous $200 cancellation fee.

Primus? has Motorola W510

We don’t know too much about Primus and their wireless capabilities – other than they’re a MVNO (Mobile Virtual Network Operator) through Rogers which is GSM. A MNVO is a company that provides mobile phone service but doesn’t have its own license spectrum allocation or infrastructure… so they basically rent the infrastructure from a MNO (Mobile Network Operator)

Ok – Primus launched the Motorola W510 and is available from $19.95 on a 3-year contract. There are also different plans that range from $50 for 2-year, $130 for 1-year and a whopping $200 month to month.

The Motorola W510 is a solid basic entry flip phone that comes in “dark grey” and has a 1.3 megapixel camera and 8x zoom (can also record videos). It is lightweight (107 grams) and measures 4.6 x 9.9 x 1.8 cm. The W510 has a good battery life with about 8 hours of talk time and standby time of up to 14 days. Here are some additional specs you might want to consider:
