WhatsApp on iOS adds albums, filters and reply shortcut features

WhatsApp on iPhone

WhatsApp has announced three new features for its messaging service. The communication company, acquired by Facebook in 2014, added albums, filters and a reply shortcut feature to its services within its newest iOS update.

Albums allows users to send or receive a group of four or more pictures or videos. The collection will automatically be made into albums that create a tile display in your messages. When you tap on the tile display, or album, the users will see a collection of photos and videos in a full screen.

The update also makes it easier for WhatsApp users to reply to messages with the “Reply Shortcut” functionality included in its newest update. Users can now swipe right on any message and start typing a quick response.quick reply on iOS

The new filter feature allows users to add filters to their photos, videos and GIFs within WhatsApp’s own camera. WhatsApp users can just take a video or photo or select media already on a device and swipe up to pick from the pop, black and white, cool, film or chrome filter choices.

We at MobileSyrup reached out to WhatsApp to check if these new features will be coming to Android and the answer was affirmative, however, the company doesn’t have a timeline yet for when the functionalities will arrive.

A previous WhatsApp on iOS update brought tweaks to the platform that include a ‘Calls’ tab and ‘Contact Info’ redesign, as well as support for Persian. The update also included Siri support, allowing the voice assistant to read messages out loud.
