Freedom Mobile launches LTE coverage in Edmonton and Calgary

The LTE network isnt everywhere in Edmonton Alberta yet there are still lots of areas that don’t have it.

    • Carl Hall

its pretty much everywhere in the core of the network, fringe areas might still use HSPA+

    • Brandon Arneson

Really? The entire north side of Edmonton doesn’t have LTE. My Galaxy A5 doesn’t switch to LTE on its own when I’m on the north side but on the south side in most areas it does.

    • Carl Hall

my ZTE Grand x4 was connecting north side just fine with the exception of Beverly

    • Brandon Arneson

Wow thats strange I dont know why I dont consistently have LTE on the north side, ive asked freedoms network team to look into it

    • Carl Hall

maybe they are just doing optimization

  • Andrew Holt

Considering switching from Rogers to Freedom, but was waiting for LTE. Now that it’s here, can anyone testify as to the difference in speed between them and Rogers?

    • Mista

Click on the last link, laterally the last word of the article 🙂

    • Brandon Arneson

My speeds are always fast on LTE they don’t slow down I have gotten up to 77mbps download speed and 33mbps upload speed in Edmonton Alberta

    • Brandon Arneson

If you switch I’d suggest going on the everywhere59 plan that includes free roaming across Canada and the USA. I have the Samsung Galaxy A5 and its a great phone it’s one of their LTE ready phones.

    • Jeric White

Noticed you’re commenting on just about every article related to Freedom(Wind, can’t hide who they are). Curious to just how much they are paying you?

    • Brandon Arneson

Im not being paid I’m just sharing my experience with other people

    • Dimitri

If you go on his profile and see how he has responded to other and my self, u can tell how he is. It seems he has nothing better to do with his life. Let him be.

    • Jeric White

Only responded to you two. You’re mad because I’ve shown up and called your most recent bs out. Should I find more?

    • Dimitri

You still going on? Drop the act bud. No one cares and no u don’t call any b.s out. U had nothing better to do last night rather then try to come on a page, troll around and do nothing else. Do us a favour and move along. Already reported u to MS staff and Androidauthority staff. Move along and don’t respond unless u have something useful to say. Take care:).

    • Jeric White

MS is most likely aware of your spewing of inaccurate information, and SAMSUNG bias that leads you to make the post you make. I’m sure you’ve been reported considering your juvenile behaviour and the personal attacks you make when you’re called out. C ya bud.

    • Dimitri

Very cute. That’s why i am still here with almost 2200 posts and active on their site? Is that why you are the only one with issues and won’t stop? ” Juvenile?” you don’t know who I am. All you have done within the past 24hrs is attack someone on the internet, makes up some sobe story to make the person ur attacking look bad and goes on with ” ur giving false information” yet I doubt once again u have done any research. Do us a favour and stop. Stop wasting time on ms and stop wasting mine and everyone else’s time. Go find someone else to troll and go live ur life outside of trolling others. Go work or spend time with family instead. I won’t be responding back as I’ll be ignoring u but Goodluck in the future. Take care! 🙂

    • Jeric White

My comments hurt your ego. You don’t need to admit it, your aggressive responses tell it all. You’re wasting your own time with your juvenile (yes drama queen, I said juvenile) responses. I’ll call you out you again and again. Hope others continue too as well.

    • Jeric White

If you can’t accept the mistake you made regarding your Pixel software updates being controlled by all Canadian carriers comment, then perhaps you shouldn’t reply anymore. Thank you.

    • Brandon Arneson

Also people should quit calling them wind they changed names time to forget about the old name

    • Jeric White

Why is it time to forget their old name? Their subscriber base is falling regardless. I can see that the name change will only cause mass headaches, for uninformed individuals who are under the impression Freedom is a new player, who unfortunately sign up for a network that they’re trying to avoid.

    • Brandon Arneson

You know what their subscriber base is going up all the time theres lots of people with them in edmonton And the 5 surrounding cities. as far as their network they are constantly improving everyday and they have only been around for 7 years so building out a network takes time. Also you have to expect congestion on a network with unlimited data

    • Dimitri

Noticed you are attacking other users for no reason. So does that mean you are getting paid to troll other or don’t have anything better to do with your life?

    • Jeric White

Uh oh, the white knight is here. Give it a rest. I called you out on your misinformation, and it’s triggered you. I also said in a post related to the LG G6, that your comment was useless. It was apparent your purpose there was to tell people that you were waiting for GS8.

    • Dimitri

If my comments are ” useless” why are you trolling and replying? Oh wait.. They are ” useless” so you must have nothing better to do. Cut the act man. Go troll someone else. Take care! 🙂

    • Jeric White

You have nothing better to do considering you came onto an article to attack me. You need to let it go. You’re butthurtness will only get worse.

    • Dimitri

Attack you? Go read your comments towards me before making posts saying “attacking” in them.

  • Omar

Awesome. Hopefully more people in Edmonton switch and the 3G network gets better with less traffic.

    • Brandon Arneson

They can go on the LTE ready everywhere 59 plan that has free Canada and USA roaming included and then buy one of the 7 phones that work on their LTE

  • I’m running the V20 in south Calgary and no LTE as of right now…

    • meh

Do you have an LTE sim and LTE plan? I’ve been using my Grand X 4 as far south as dewinton and LTE has worked fine for me

    • Brandon Arneson

You need an LTE phone as well as an LTE Sim card and LTE plan. Their $59 plan is the best deal because it has free Canada and USA roaming and you will be getting LTE roaming soon but you need one of their 7 LTE ready phones.I have the samsung Galaxy A5

  • meh

The Calgary coverage map isn’t very accurate, I am able to get LTE all the way in the dewinton region

  • Brandon Arneson

I’m on their LTE ready Everywhere 59 plan that gives free canada and USA wide roaming and I have their $10 3gb data add on to give me 11gb of full speed data on the home network before throttling then I have 1gb of high speed roaming data before speeds are throttled with unlimited use. I have the Samsung Galaxy A5 and I’m in Edmonton Alberta their LTE is awesome the highest speeds I’ve gotten so far are 77mbps download and 33mbps upload. LTE is being rolled out to the 6 surrounding cities they have home coverage in outside of Edmonton as well. Roaming isn’t an issue if your on the LTE ready everywhere 59 plan that’s gonna give u LTE with an LTE ready phone which they currently sell 7 phones that support LTE. Also WiFi calls text and MMS are coming to their LTE ready phones soon and you’ll also get LTE roaming which will be free on the $59 plan.

  • Saifali Maknojiya

I have galaxy s7 edge and LTE doesnt really work for me in edmonton so far top sp3en i got is 15mbps.. no idea whats going on.. mybe they need to send an update.

    • Desi Jatt

You are not going to get Freedom LTE with your S7 Edge in Edmonton, Calgary, Vancouver & Toronto no matter what you do. The Simple Answer to that is S7 Edge doesn’t Support AWS 3 LTE Band 66.

    • Saifali Maknojiya

Thanks great way to start freedom mobile.. when i was getting this plan i was told that i will get LTE when available in edmonton.. what a disappointment..

    • Desi Jatt

You can’t expect a Store Level Sales Rep/ Nor would they tell the store which Frequency will be used for LTE.

    • Brandon Arneson

I have the Samsung Galaxy A5 and their LTE Ready Everywhere 59 plan with free Canada and USA wide roaming and I only get LTE consistently on the south side of Edmonton. The north side has a lot of areas without it.

    • Ian

Freedom Mobile’s site lists LTE-Ready phones that have Band 66. I like the ZTE Grand X 4 and the Samsung phones.
