Chrome Dev allows users to test out experimental Chrome features before their official debut in the actual app and give Google feedback accordingly.
Now, the tech giant is apparently using the app to try out a significantly faster and revamped search widget. With Chrome Dev downloaded from the Play Store, users can go to their devices’ home screens to access widgets and find Chrome Dev.
Tapping on the widget will instantly launch a search in Chrome Dev and bring up keyboard and auto-suggestions. The search takes barely one second, which is notably less than standard widgets on Android phones.
Because this new search widget is still experimental, it is currently limited to Chrome Dev version 60 for now.
