Spotify makes music sharing quicker with QR-like Codes

Spotify

Spotify has announced that it is adding QR-like codes for easy music sharing with nearby users.

A barcode, known as a Spotify Code, can now be found under individual songs, playlists, and albums. Users can go into the Spotify app and click the search button, which will bring up a camera icon in the search bar. Content can then be shared between devices by hovering the camera over the code found underneath music or artists.

Spotify’s support account on Twitter previously hinted in April through replies to certain user questions that this functionality would be coming. However, the account referred to the feature as ‘Spotify Scannables,’ not ‘Spotify Codes’ as they are now called.

Last month, rumours began circulating that Spotify is planning to make its own “fully connected device.” Also, a student discount is now available for users in Canada.
