Huawei’s P10 gets an 87 rating from camera tester DxOMark

Huawei’s P10, which is set to come to Canada at some point in the near future, though a firm release date and specific pricing remain unknown, has received an 87 rating out of 100 from camera tester DxOMark.

This puts the P10, which was announced at Mobile World Congress (MWC), in the same category as other high-end devices like the Moto Z and Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge. It’s also worth noting that 87 is a higher score than even Apple’s iPhone 7, however, it still falls short of other flagship Android devices with more impressive shooters like the HTC 10Pixel and Galaxy S7.

In terms of specifics, DxOMark details that the phone has good exposure even in low light conditions and that it provides “accurate and repeatable autofocus.” The camera tester also says that in terms of video, the P10 offers good dynamic range and “excellent detail preservation.”

Here’s a snipet of DxOMark’s thoughts on the P10’s camera:

“With an overall DxOMark Mobile Score of 87 points, the Huawei P10 is up there as one of the best Smartphones we’ve tested for photography enthusiasts. For stills, its Photo sub-score of 88 points is excellent, thanks to generally good exposures in all conditions, including extreme low light, and good color rendering with accurate white balance. Detail and texture preservation is also very good, producing some of the sharpest results we’ve seen, and the P10’s autofocus is fast, accurate, and repeatable in both trigger and auto mode.”

We’ll have more on Huawei’s P10 leading up to the smartphone’s Canadian release.
