Microsoft confirms Windows 10 will get two major updates in 2017

microsoft windows 10 anniversary update

Back during Microsoft’s rollout of Windows 10’s Anniversary Update in August, the company’s Nathan Mercer said Microsoft planned to release two major feature updates in 2017. Microsoft today confirmed it continues to be on track to deliver a second major update to Windows 10 later this year.

During the company’s Ignite conference in Australia, Microsoft shared a timeline, spotted by ONMSFT, that revealed its current roadmap for Windows 10. The timeline doesn’t list a specific release date for when consumers can expect the update, codenamed ‘Redstone 3,’ to start making its way to their Windows 10 device. However, it does say that enterprise customers can expect the new software to start rolling out at some point in 2018.

It’s currently unknown what major features Microsoft will include. It’s possible Windows 10’s ‘Neon’ redesign could land alongside Redstone 3. Microsoft will likely detail the update at its annual Build developer conference.

In the meantime, Windows 10’s Creator Update, the next major update to Microsoft’s operating system, is expected to arrive this spring.
