You can play the Nintendo Switch in Toronto on January 29

The Nintendo Switch is coming to Canada ahead of its March 3rd release.

On Sunday, January 29th, Nintendo is holding a free public preview event for its upcoming console-handheld hybrid at Toronto’s Metro Toronto Convention Centre.

This is the only stop in a Canadian city on the Nintendo Switch Preview Tour, and one of only eight overall in North America. Wristbands will be given out on a first-come, first-served basis for three separate sessions, starting at 8am.

Nintendo suggests people line up at 7am., as space is said to be very limited.

Torontonians will be able to try out the Switch from 10am to 12pm, 1pm to 3 pm and 3:30pm to 5:30pm.

The Switch is Nintendo’s latest system following its beleaguered Wii U console, which launched back in November of 2012. What differentiates the Switch from traditional gaming systems, is the fact that it can be played on a TV and also act as a handheld device. A tablet is included that needs to be docked in order to be played on a television, but when removed can also be played on the go with two wireless ‘Joy-Con’ controllers.

Consumers have been pre-ordering quickly, although some developers aren’t as keen on the system.

The Nintendo Switch will cost $399.99 in Canada.
