Jaguar takes aim at Tesla with electric I-Pace concept car

Jaguar has unveiled the I-Pace concept car, an electric SUV that the company says will hit the market by the second half of 2018, potentially offering valid competition to Tesla’s Model X SUV.

The all-wheel drive I-Pace comes stocked with a 90 kWh battery and Jaguar estimates it will have over 220 miles of EPA-estimated range.

With its dual electric motors delivering 394 horsepower and 516 foot-pounds of torque, the company claims the car will get from zero to 60mph in about four seconds. The I-Pace is also set to include 50kW DC charging capabilities, allowing for a full charge in around two hours.

As for the interior, the I-Pace appears to be roomy with large windows and what appears to be a glass roof.

Next to the steering wheel is a 12-inch touchscreen with a 5.5-inch secondary touchscreen below.

Jaguar revealed the car in high style, with press events in London and Los Angeles coming together in virtual reality using the HTC Vive.

The company has yet to give a solid indication on pricing or more detailed information regarding availability.
