OnePlus 3 to get Android Nougat later this month

OnePlus 3 fans will soon be able to get a taste of Android Nougat.

In a recent interview with Engadget, Brian Yoon, head of software at OnePlus, told the site’s Chris Velazco that OnePlus would release a beta “community” build of Android Nougat for the OnePlus 3 later this month. He also noted the company hopes to start pushing out a Nougat OTA to all OnePlus 3 devices before the end of the year.

Regarding older devices, while Yoon did not provide Engadget a specific timeline, he said those too would be updated to Nougat at some point in the future.

The news comes in the wake of larger Android OEMs detailing their Nougat update plans. Earlier in the week, Samsung previewed its Nougat skin. LG also just pushed Nougat to G5 smartphones in South Korea, and promised to do the same in other markets “in the coming weeks.”
