Instapaper’s premium features now available to all for free

Instapaper users just got an early Christmas gift. Starting today, the read-it-later app’s ‘premium’ features are now available to everyone free of charge.

Those include the ability to send saved articles to a Kindle device, search an entire article’s text for a specific keyword and make unlimited use of the app’s speed reading feature. In addition, the next time you visit Instapaper’s website to read an article, there won’t be any ads.

The move comes after Pinterest acquired Instapaper and the team behind it this past August. When it announced the deal, Pinterest promised Instapaper would continue to operate as a standalone app.

Previously, Instapaper’s premium features used to cost $3 CAD a month or $30 a year.
