Dance yourself clean with Crypt of the NecroDancer [Game of the Week]

Crypt of the Necrodancer Pocket Edition

This week’s Game of the Week, Crypt of the Necrodancer, is for anyone that enjoys a good dance tune.

The game came out on PC back in 2015 and quickly became a cult hit thanks to its unique premise. Players navigate through Crypt of the Necrodancer’s difficult dungeons, earning loot and gold as they progress. Each dungeon is procedurally generated — meaning no two levels are exactly the same — and filled with enemies that follow predictable patterns The twist is that you must move your character to the beat of the song playing in the background of the level.

And what a soundtrack it is. Penned by Danny Baranowsky, best know for crafting the music to Super Meat Boy, each level in Crypt of the Necrodancer has a song that will worm its way into your brain and stay there. That said, it’s also possible to play the game to the beat of your own music (you monster).

Besides the option to play while listening to one’s own music, the most notable addition found in the Pocket Edition of Crypt of the Necrodancer is the inclusion of three different control methods.

There’s the option to play with a virtual d-pad, swipes and edge controls. Bluetooth-enabled controllers are also supported, which is probably the best way to play the game, which is available on both iPhone and iPad.

Download Crypt of the NecroDancer Pocket Edition from the iTunes App Store for $6.99.
