Leak reveals HTC’s One A9 iPhone lookalike to get a S model later this year

HTC will launch a new version of the One A9 on September 1st, one day before this year’s IFA consumer electronics trade show in Berlin, according to professional mobile tipster and Venture Beat writer Evan Blass, who cites a source familiar with the matter.

The original One A9 came out in late 2015, and was immediately accused of being a blatant copy of iPhone — though in fairness, HTC did start the metal unibody trend. This year it’s set to double down on its imitation strategy by naming the new version the One A9s, in-line with Apple’s naming conventions.

A picture of the alleged handset in silver, gold and black also shows a device that looks more than ever like an iPhone, with the camera repositioned from its central spot on the One A9 to the left-hand side, and no HTC branding on the front side.

Blass also reveals that the camera resolution will clock in at 13 megapixels, while the front-facing camera sensor transitions from four UltraPixels to five megapixels.
