Wind to offer two new ‘Everywhere’ promo plans April 12

Wind will offer two new promotional plans with built-in U.S. roaming, starting April 12th.

According to internal documents obtained by MobileSyrup, the new plans are titled “Everywhere 45,” and “Everywhere 60,” and will make it easy for frequent North American travellers to roam without purchasing monthly travel packs at an additional cost.

When using the “Everywhere 45” plan within Canadian borders, subscribers will have unlimited Canada and U.S. calling, unlimited international text and 5 GB of data. In the U.S., the plan allots 2,400 Canada and U.S. minutes, unlimited text and pay-per-use data at five cents per MB.

The “Everywhere 60” will give subscribers the same amount of calling and texting, but 10 GB of data for use in Canada and 1 GB for use in the U.S.

Currently, Wind’s roaming options consist of pay-per-use flat rates and a $15 per month add-on that provides subscribers with 2,400 minutes, unlimited text and 1 GB of data. If that travel feature is added on to Wind’s current $40 plan, which includes unlimited nationwide calling and 5 GB, it is less expensive by $5 than the new “Everywhere 60” plan.

The “Everywhere 60” plan is always active, which is good for those who may be too busy to worry about putting on a new travel pack each month, and it includes unlimited U.S. calling from Canada.

When comparing the new roaming-included plans to pay-per-use roaming, it remains a question of how frequently the subscriber travels. Wind’s pay-per-use roaming rates are gentle by Canadian wireless standards at 15 cents a minute, five cents a text and five cents per MB, but still add up quickly, especially if a subscriber is in the U.S. for an extended period of time.

The new plans will be available to new and existing customers, both on contract and off.
