Telus Galaxy S6 and Note 5 Marshmallow updates delayed in Canada

Samsung Galaxy Line

It looks like Galaxy S6 and Note 5 owners on Telus will have to wait a bit longer to get their hands on Android Marshmallow. According to the carrier’s newly released update schedule, the Marshmallow updates Telus had scheduled for the Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 edge, Galaxy S6 edge+ have now been delayed indefinitely.

Previously, the Galaxy S6 Marshmallow had been scheduled for April 13.

In speaking to a source at Rogers, MobileSyrup was told the carrier has been extremely cautious about rolling out Marshmallow to Samsung phones after an earlier update went awry. Earlier in the year, an update Rogers pushed to Samsung devices broke support for Voice over LTE (VoLTE). Moving forward, the company wants to spend more timing testing potential updates to ensure they don’t break existing features, the source said. It’s not clear if Telus made a similar decision, but the delay seems to suggest there’s an issue with the update.

We have reached out to Samsung, Telus, and Rogers for further clarification and timing. Telus noted that an update on a potential release should be made public next week.
