Definitely a better choice over the Lumia 550 which is total shyte, even for an entry level phone. The 640 and 640XL are generally viewed as the most appealing of the entry-level phones MS has today. I acquired the 640 from a U.S. buyer for the equivalent of $90 CDN, unlocked. There are deals to be had but the Microsoft Store isn’t the best place to find them

AT&T branded? Picked ’em up while they were $30 USD at Walmart and Amazon eh

    • Yeas

      Still got them?

    • eyescreaman

Yes please text at 6477956818 to meet up

I already bought mine. Thanks. I only wanted to see what Windows 8.1 and now 10 will be like on a mobile device.

For it’s specs, I would rather buy a Huawei P8lite for a extra $80 on Best Buy

    • OttoVonBismarck

Meh. That junk only runs Kitkat OS. Cheap Chinese junk.

    “a quad-core 1.2GHz Snapdragon 400 processor”

    Aw, so no Continuum support.

  • Elky64

A decent phone I’m sure buuut… Already have the Ativ S, L1020 and L830, been riding the rough seas since 2012 and think it is time to move on.

    • Jeff Brassard

I hear you. I have the Ativ S, lumia 625 and 830. I still love the platform and the thought of getting an iPhone or android makes me sad, but it is getting tough to stay on Windows. Really tough.

      I have the Lumia 920, 830, 635, 640 & 1020

      Royal Flush!

    • Elky64

      Is
your 635 the 512 MB RAM variant or 1 GB, in other words, unlucky or lucky?

    • Desi Jatt

It’s the 512MB version so no Windows 10 on that one. What’s dispointing is Lumia 1020 is not getting it. It was a $700+ Flagship Device.

    • Elky64

I could forgo W10M on the 1020 but just wish they could have found a way to improve the camera software speed wise, still an awesome phone either way.

    • MassDeduction

You can put Windows 10 on both of them, the exact same build that is being pushed out as the official build (build .164). Instead of doing it through the “Upgrade Advisor” app to get it through the official channel, get it through the “Windows Insider” app. Both are official Microsoft apps.

    • Elky64

I’ll continue to use all three of mine but bought the LG G4 to fill in the holes WP couldn’t, unfair to pit the two platforms against one another yet in the app department the differences can be immense, the app gap is far from my main gripes though and either way it is a shame cuz I liked the platform.

    • Jeff Brassard

I’ve been looking at getting an android device. Waffling between the nexus 5x and the ASUS Zenfone 2. I had a Lumia 950 but I returned it. Great phone but really expensive and the build quality isn’t super.

    • Elky64

If either the 950/950XL had been available through my
carrier at launch good chance I would have gotten one or the other, glad in some ways we didn’t.

The Nexus 5x is a good phone but the lack of expandable memory kills it for me, contemplated getting the Zenfone 2 then thought better of it, if I had to choose I’d probably be the Nexus just cuz of the pure Android experience.

  • Jonah Emery

Dead platform @ 2.6% 2015 marketshare. Left WP for Nexus 6P.
