Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked 2016 will stream live in 360-degree VR

Samsung is preparing for Galaxy Unpacked 2016, the company’s big Galaxy S7 event at Mobile World Congress this weekend in Barcelona, and to mark the rapid rise of virtual reality, the entire presentation will be presented live as an optional 360-degree stream.

The event will be viewable from four different 360-degree vantage points: the auditorium, stage left, right, and from the centre of the auditorium. From any of these views, viewers be able to look in all directions, giving a new perspective of the Unpacked’s atmosphere. Of course, in addition to being able to view a 360-degree stream of Unpacked with a PC or mobile device, viewers will also be able to experience the event in virtual reality via a virtual reality headset.

To watch on the web, simply head to Samsung’s website and choose your desired viewpoint. On mobile, or with the Gear VR, viewers need to navigate to the Google Play Store, the iOS App Store, or search the Oculus Store, depending on what VR they’re using. Find and install the free “Unpacked 360 View” app, and open it up to start watching the event.

The live stream begins at 7pm CET (1pm Eastern) from Barcelona on Sunday, February 21st.
