This is the back of the Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge

Last week, renderings showing off the front of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge appeared online, and now Evan Blass has revealed what the back of the smartphone will likely look like.

It seems that Samsung might play it safe with the design of the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge, releasing two devices very similar to the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge.

The camera, located near the centre top, will reportedly have a reduction in total pixels from 16MP to 12MP, allowing it to take better photos in low light. Below the camera is Samsung’s branding, showcasing the Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge in a new modern, curved font.

Samsung already confirmed the ‘Next Galaxy’ will be unveiled on February 21st and promised the new flagship will “rethink what a phone can do.”

Looks exactly like the S6. I guess it’ll be all about the internals now…

    • thereasoner

Everything is just slightly more squared off. The camera lens, the flash/sensors and even the home button. That and other views have shown less of a camera hump than the picture of the S6 at the top of this page, a slightly thicker phone perhaps for the rumored larger battery?

I was hoping that the curved back on the Note 5 was making it to the regular sized phone but apparently not.

    • Mo Dabbas

They also seem to either made the home button taller or cut some of the bezel at the bottom part of the screen

    • thereasoner

Yeah, I believe it’s a bit longer and wider than that on my S6.

    • Mr_Smoosh

They’ll have to change it physically, even if it’s very subtle. They can’t have you re-using old cases!

    • Marc Palumbo

      lol HTC did it!

  • thereasoner

So by this it looks like the curved back is still going to be reserved for the Note series and not used for the regular sized phone as per some rumors. That one rumor down, hopefully most of the others regarding the specs are accurate!

  • Mo Dabbas

Are they keeping the screen size of the regular S7 at 5.1″?

    • GPman

No rumor yet that I’ve heard of indicating a bigger s7. It is too bad cause I’m ready for a 5.5 phone but don’t want an edge.

    • Mo Dabbas

Ya. I tried the S6 and the screen size is what made me switch away from it. Maybe I’ll aim to get a note 5 instead.

  • Iz3man

Last year was the first time I didn’t upgrade my device… Looks like this year will follow suit… Hard to beat the note 4.

    • Marc Palumbo

The only difference is the SD slot. if it comes to the Note 6 in August, I’m sure you’ll buy it.

    • Iz3man

They would need to bring back the note 3 flat screen.. I hate the slight 2.5d edged screens.. Impossible to get a proper screen protector..

But based on past behavior, the note 6 will look too much like the note 5.

But in all honesty, I’m personally done with the note line, I just don’t use the pen anymore..

    • Marc Palumbo

Most people just draw moustaches about people’s faces. But I do agree with you. Also, I find it difficult to get a grip on the phone with one hand. Nothing is worse than my LG G4. I can’t find a proper case for the damn thing because the back is curved.

    • Iz3man

For my g4 ( yeah, have one, hate it) I got a tpu case for $5 off eBay, has the same look as the leather back, very easy on the hands, very durable ( I own and work in a welding fab shop)

Where are the Apple fans telling us this looks exactly like an iPhone, and it is copying Apple, like they were when the images of the front were posted on MobileSyrup a few days ago?

I still makes me chuckle when I think about the time Dan Bader was trying to tell me that the GS6 was some sort of iPhone copy.

    • FTR_Part_deux

Don’t need to since it looks like Samsung is copying Apple’s game of going backwards in technology…Going from a 16mp camera and downgrading, while matching to the iPhone 6s, of 12mp.

    • FlamesFan89

More mega pixels doesn’t automatically mean a better camera. Even at 8MP previous iPhones were among the best smartphone cameras and performed better than others with more MP.

    • thereasoner

An industry leading F/1.7 aperture and larger pixels that let in more light for improved low light pictures is a step forward that Apple fans can only dream of. Same with the “DSLR like auto focus”.

    • Lazy Ghost

Guess you haven’t done your research on technology…best catch up ????

    • ShaBi

I honestly have not seen a comment about this looking like an iPhone here as of yet. Saw a few that says it looks almost the same as the S6 (myself included, but really don’t care much). Not sure what your intentions are, but seems like you’re quite annoyed with them Apple fans saying this and that, so why are you starting, or attempting to start, something now? Thought you’d be happy they kept their mouth shut.

    • FlamesFan89

A couple things. One, the article from a couple days ago, showing the front of the phone, the first two comments claim that it is copying the iPhone (by the way, you replied to one of them). And two, my comment here was more to poke fun at the new trend of most Apple articles having one of the first comments being something along the lines of “here come the Android fanboys”. It’s eye-roll inducing at best.

    • Waqqas Khokhar

I really don’t mind as long as they copy each other on the RIGHT things, e.g. USB and 3.5mm connectors on the bottom (personal preference).

  • outburst

still waiting for the banana shaped phone.

    • Garrett Cooper

LG G Flex or something like that

  • Sean-Paul

Already trying to sell my Note 5 to go for the S7 Edge

  • marshallpower

3000 and 3600mAh batteries are interesting but for those who always complain about that, they sell 27 000 mAh battery packs at Monoprice…

  • Longtin

Like someone said earlier and before, this should of been the S6 to begin with.

  • jay

S7 and S7 edge plus YES love it

  • Lazy Ghost

I’ll wait till the new Note comes out. I only care about battery life. SD cards are a thing of the past to me. Never had one in my Note 4 since it first came out. My business files are kept on cloud storage and the rare occasion on my OTG USB. The camera sounds interesting though.
