PC Financial has overhauled its iOS app with a lighter design, iPhone 6 support, and a number of user-requested features, including Touch ID and Apple Watch integration.

Owned by CIBC, PC Financial’s new iPhone and iPad is essentially the same as its parent company’s, rebranded for the no-fee institutions’s focus on consumer accounts, mortgages and loans.

Customers can check online statements, review deposited cheques, and sign up for Interac e-transfers.

This now looks exactly the same as the CIBC app. I wonder if it was developed by the same company who just copy pasted the codebase.

    • Franco

It says in the article that CIBC owns PC Financial.

    • Stimulator

Which is wrong, because Loblaws owns PC Financial and basically rents banking service from CIBC. Because CIBC is the service provider, they’ve obviously had a hand in designing the website and apps and decided to follow the design of their own.

    CIBC doesn’t own PC Financial.

Right from PCfinancial’s About page [www.banking.pcfinancial(.)ca/mkt/common/aboutus/aboutpcf-en.html]:

President’s Choice Financial services is a unique financial services offering designed and launched by Loblaw Companies Limited. The President’s Choice Financial MasterCard is provided by President’s Choice Bank, while personal banking services are provided by the direct banking division of CIBC.
