With the start of a new school semester underway here in Canada, Amazon has slashed the price of the Kindle Paperwhite. Students enrolled in the company’s Amazon Student program can now get its latest e-reader for $100 before tax and shipping and handling. Textbooks are also 10 percent off.

Additionally, current Amazon Student members who refer their friends to the program will get a $20 credit added to their account. It’s possible to refer multiple people to the program to get multiple credits.

Additional details about the discounts, as well as general information about Amazon’s student program, can be found on the company’s Canadian e-commerce website.

Signed up for their student prime membership just now (they have a free trial going) and the Kindle Paperweight is listed at $139 still. Is this starting immediately?
