SaskTel is estimating its customers will send 6 million text messages on Christmas Day

SaskTel is estimating another year of heavy usage on its network this Christmas. The Saskatchewan-based regional carrier has over 618,000 wireless customers and is predicting that it will see some serious network usage on December 25th.

SaskTel projects that its customers will approximately make 750,000 long distance calls — which incluces 350,000 wireline long distance calls and 400,000 wireless long distance calls — on Christmas Day. In addition, the number of text messages is expected to top six million on December 25th.

SaskTel notes that there “may result in some temporary network congestion” and requests you to place calls outside of the busy hours of 10:00am to 2:00pm and 7:00pm to 10:00pm.
