watchOS 2 coming to Apple Watch on September 16

Apple will release the first true update to the Apple Watch on September 16th, bringing native apps and a number of new features that will remove some pain points for many early adopters.

The biggest change to the software is the support of native apps, which negate the need for the Watch and iPhone to be in constant communication when working with third-party apps. While the Watch will still glean information from the iPhone, the actual app assets will be stored on the Watch, speeding up loading times and overall capabilities.

watchOS 2 also adds third-party complications, a number of new watch faces, and Time Travel, the ability to move forward and back in time using the Digital Crown.
