New leak suggests both upcoming Nexus phones will feature fingerprint sensors and USB type-C ports

Nexus 6

It was only last week that we had some fresh information on Google’s soon-to-be announced Nexus successor, and here we are again with not one but two leaks coming out on the same day.

The leaks come courtesy of Steve Hemmerstoffer from @Onleaks and NoWhereElse.fr. Hemmerstoffer has been accurate in the past, so there’s good to reason to believe his information is credible.

First of all, he confirms what we’ve heard in the past, which is that Google will announce two new Nexus phones this year. The first is coming from LG, while the second one is coming courtesy of Huawei.

According to Hemmerstoffer, the Nexus phone coming from LG will feature a 5.2-inch display, a metal body, front-facing speakers and a USB type-C port. Much like the early Nexus 6 prototype we saw the other day, it will include a fingerprint sensor on the back of the device.

In terms of dimensions, LG’s Nexus device will measure 149.9 x 72.9 x 8mm. In other words, it’s a device that will be reminiscent of the much-loved Nexus 5, but will feature a slightly larger screen and will be significantly taller, likely due to the dual front-facing speakers. For comparison, the already-long HTC One M9, which also has forward stereo speakers, is 144.6mm long.

Moving on to the Huawei-made device, which we’ve heard is codenamed “Bullhead,” Hemmerstoffe says the Chinese company’s first Nexus smartphone will feature a metal exterior, a 5.7-inch QHD display, a USB type-C connector, front-facing speakers and a fingerprint sensor on the back of the device. Compared to the Nexus 6, Huawei’s device will tout a smaller screen and be slightly narrower.

Last week, Hemmerstoffer posted a video that reportedly shows off the Huawei Nexus. In it, it’s possible to see many of the features Hemmerstoffe mentions in his most recent tweet, including the fingerprint sensor he says will be located on the back of the phone.

Back in July, prolific leaker Evan Blass took to Twitter to say that Bullhead will feature a 5.7-inch display and Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 820 system on a chip, though it’s more likely that the Huawei device will miss that deadline, launching with a Snapdragon 810 chip. The LG Nexus device will likely have a more mid-range Snapdragon 615 chip.

As with previous Nexus devices, we can expect Google to announce the devices in late October.
