Apple says some Watch orders will arrive sooner than expected

Pre-orders for the Apple Watch went live on April 10th. Those quick to purchase were ensured delivery on April 24th, which is quickly coming up. Those who hesitated to buy the wearable, however, were told their shipments may take until June or July to arrive.

Angela Ahrendts, Apple’s SVP of Retail and Online Stores, acknowledged in a note to staff that the wearable has been met with “tremendous interest.” Unfortunately, Apple hasn’t indicated the number of pre-orders, but industry analysts are forecasting upwards of 2 million units.

Some people who preordered the Apple Watch with the estimated May and June ship dates have received a message indicating an arrival within weeks. Apple has now confirmed its shipping times have improved and many are now status changes from ‘processing’ to ‘preparing for shipment.’

In a statement to TechCrunch, Apple said, “We’re happy to be updating many customers today with the news that their Apple Watch will arrive sooner than expected. Our team is working to fill orders as quickly as possible based on the available supply and the order in which they were received. We know many customers are still facing long lead times and we appreciate their patience.”

As previously reported, there are three Apple Watch models available — Watch Sport, Watch Collection, Watch Edition — with Canadian pricing starting at $449, topping out at $22,000.
