TD Canada Trust app now password manager-friendly with recent update

TD Canada Trust

Two weeks ago, TD Canada Trust came under criticism for disabling the ability to paste passwords into its recently-updated iOS and Android apps. At the core of the issue was the ability to use a third-party password manager to generate and store long, complicated passwords that were difficult to manually type.

While the feature omission would have been egregious on its own, it was TD’s own corporate Twitter account that began suggesting to users that it was better to remember an easier password than use a password manager.

We were not impressed.

After just two weeks, TD Canada Trust has updated its Android app with the ability to paste passwords. We can only assume a similar update is coming soon to the iOS version, too. This clears up our biggest issue with the newly-redesigned version (though device support for mobile payments is still quite limited, but that’s another story).

The update also adds the ability to capture a screenshot of one’s account information, and makes improvements to the mobile deposit feature.

Update: Both the Android and iOS updates are now available to download.
