Bell is the only Canadian carrier part of the Global M2M Association (GMA). Members of the six-carrier group also include Deutsche Telekom, Orange, TeliaSonera, Telecom Italia Mobile and SoftBank, all of wihch will be demonstrating a new Multi-Domestic Service at Mobile World Congress in March.
“Multi-Domestic Service” provides “One platform, One SIM, One experience” that allows carriers to offer real-time connectivity management on all your connected devices, regardless of location. The carriers will roll out embedded SIMs (eSIMs), which aim to be future proof, locally provisioned and can adapt to the lifecycle of connected devices.
Hans Dahlberg, Head of TeliaSonera Global M2M Services, said, “For many enterprises the race is on to provide interactive connected services, underpinning this is the need for a simple solution that provides connectivity globally. The GMA’s Multi-Domestic Service offers global capability, a flexible management solution which works in harmony with an enterprise’s product lifecycle and critically provides a low total cost of ownership for connectivity.”
Bell has quietly been putting additional efforts behind its M2M (Machine-to-Machine) and IoT (Internet of Things) business over the past couple years, such as its fleet management, wireless backup and remote monitoring services.
