Samsung patents shows dual-curved display, strange pop-up feature

Samsung has been rumoured to announce its upcoming flagship smartphones at Mobile World Congress next month, with names like the Galaxy S6 and a dual-curved Galaxy S Edge.

In Samsung’s latest Q4 results the company stated its future smartphone will have “new materials, innovative designs.” According to a recent patent granted by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, there could be some truth to it. The Galaxy Note Edge was unveiled in September 2014 (it’s finally coming to Canada on February 18th) and it seems that Samsung will mirror the design on the left hand side to have curved displays on both sides.

Probably the most interesting image on the patent filing is a “popup” panel that looks to extend the device by an inch or so. This appears to at the top of the curved smartphone and is currently unclear what the use is, nor if it’ll actually come to life.
