Korea rumoured to be getting Galaxy Note 4 based on Snapdragon 810

The first Snapdragon 810 phone may not be a 2015 flagship. Instead, it seems we could see an updated version of a current-generation phone. According to the latest reports, Samsung is planning a new Galaxy Note 4 based on the Snapdragon 810.

This device is apparently being tested for some major carriers in South Korea. There’s no release date just yet, but SamMobile cites sources that say this new variant of the Note 4 will be available within a few months and exclusive to Korea.

Last week, there were reports that problems with Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 810 SoC were affecting the production of multiple next generation smartphones. The story was that the Snapdragon 810 was overheating once it hit a specific voltage. This apparently meant a delay for several of the flagship phones rumoured to be coming next year, like the LG G4 and the Xperia Z4.

On Monday, Qualcomm denied claims that there had been delays in the production of the 810. NDTV cites Jon Carvill, Senior Director of Public Relations at Qualcomm, as saying everything was on track.

“I can tell you that everything with Snapdragon 810 remains on track and we expect commercial devices to be available in 1H 2015,” Carvill said.

Though that could just be spin (first half of 2015 is quite a big window so to say it’s still coming in the same six months the company originally intended isn’t saying much at all), these new rumours about the 810-based Note 4 seem to suggest that everything really is just fine with the new Snapdragon chip.
