In reviewing the Nexus 9, we said the devices was “one of the best tablets available on the market today.” However, some Nexus 9 users have had significant issues with the tablet’s power and volume control buttons, causing a high degree of frustration.
According to one poster on the Nexus 9 subreddit, HTC may already be taking steps to correct the issue. A photo by the poster shows a newly shipped Nexus 9 next to a launch model, with the newer version featuring buttons sticking out noticeably farther from the tablet’s case. According to the poster, the buttons are also stiffer and significantly easier to press.
The reddit user goes on to say that the newer Nexus 9 also features less light bleed, although light bleed apparently remains an issue with the tablet. If you’re looking to purchase a Nexus 9 tablet this weekend, you may want to hold out until you can guarantee you’re getting one of the updated versions.
