TuneIn Radio goes Material, adds Chromecast support on iOS and Android

TuneIn

Popular streaming music and radio app TuneIn has been updated with a new Material Design look on Android and Chromecast support across Google’s platform and iOS.

The company announced compatibility with Chromecast and Android TV as part of a wide update for Google’s streaming platform, though only the TuneIn update applies to Canadians.

TuneIn Radio for Android looks and feels more like a native Lollipop app with its new design, featuring a thinner font designed for higher-resolution displays and a new left-side hamburger menu complete with Google’s new transition animations.

There are lock screen improvements as well, and new options for TuneIn’s popular alarm feature, which lets you wake up or fall asleep to your favourite streaming station.

TuneIn for iOS hasn’t been forgotten, either. In addition to Chromecast support, the app now looks nicer on the iPad, and the company has added Handoff support so it’s possible to continue listening on an iPhone after beginning on the tablet, and vice versa.
