Sony Xperia C3 announced, claims title as the ‘world’s best selfie smartphone’ with a 5MP front-facing camera

Last week, a group of Canadians claimed the title for taking the most selfies taken in one hour. Earlier, the term ‘selfie’ was also awarded as being the Oxford Dictionary Word of the Year — and now Sony has officially hopped on board by releasing the “world’s best selfie smartphone.”

The Sony Xperia C3 has been fully-optimized for selfies and features a new ‘PROselfie cam’ and dedicated retouching apps. The star feature of this Android is its 5MP wide-angle front-facing camera (25mm with an 80 degree field of view) that is perfect for capturing yourself in various places. Sony prides itself on bringing forth a “unique soft flash” to the device that allows the capture of “flattering photos day or night.” In addition, for quick capture you simply double tapping the back cover or use the Smile Shutter.

The LTE-enabled Xperia C3 sports a 5.5-inch 720p display, along with an 8MP camera on the back, a quad-core Snapdragon 1.2GHz processor, 8GB internal storage with 1GB RAM, runs Android 4.4 KitKat, and is 7.6mm thick with a weight of 150 grams.

The Xperia C3, which is a dual SIM device, will first be available in China this August in black, white and mint (light green), then rollout to other unknown markets. No word on a Canadian release.
