Oppo’s Find 7a now available to preorder, offers free shipping and accessory bundle

One of the best deals on an unlocked Android smartphone is now available for preorder.

Oppo’s Find 7a, the slightly less-powerful sibling to the Find 7, is now up for preorder in Canada, and arrives with free shipping and three accessories, including an Easy Cover, an extra battery and a 32GB microSD card.

Oppo isn’t a well-known name in North America, but with the release of the Find 5 and N1, along with the recent announcement of the Find 7 and Find 7a, the Chinese manufacturer is looking to change that.

The 5.5-inch Find 7a comes with a 1920×1080 pixel IPS display, a 2.3Ghz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, 2GB of LPDDR3 RAM, 16GB of internal storage and a microSD slot, Android 4.3 Jelly Bean with Color OS, WiFi, GPS, a 13MP rear Sony Exmor RS stacked CMOS camera with dual LED flash and f/2.0 lens, a 5MP front-facing camera, a 2,800mAh removable battery with Fast Charge technology, and support for Band 4 LTE (AWS).

At $499, the device is a bit more expensive than the Nexus 5, but promises a far superior camera experience and a faster processor, as well as a beautifully-designed chassis.

Perhaps the most intriguing part of the Find 7a is its native support for custom ROMs, including Android 4.4-based CyanogenMOD 11.

Preorders are on backorder, but should ship as soon as new stock is available. It will be very interesting to see if Oppo can gain traction in North America with this new device. The Find 7 proper, which sports similar specs but a 2K resolution screen, ships in June or July.

The Oppo Find 7a comes in white or black for $499 USD.
