Google Opinion Rewards for Android now available to Canadians

If you’re into giving feedback, this is right up your alley. Google Opinion Rewards for Android is now available for Canadians, giving the chance to offer up a bit of your intelligence via surveys in exchange for some Google Play credits.

Those interested in participating must have an Android device running OS 2.3.3 or higher and Google will “send you surveys around once a week, although it may be more or less frequent. You’ll get a notification on your phone when a short and relevant survey is ready for you, and can receive up to $1.00 USD (or local equivalent) in Play credits for completing it. Questions can range from, ‘Which logo is best?’ and ‘Which promotion is most compelling?’ to ‘When do you plan on traveling next?’”

Pretty simple and might be worth it.

I remember reading about this app last year and was very disappointed that it wasn’t for Canadians.

Edit: I did the starting survey and got $0.00 for it, I hope to get something from the surveys in the future though.

Same here.. there must be some issue?

    • silver_arrow

The first survey is more of a “Make sure you are human” one than a real one.

    • Bri Bru

I did two surveys, first when I signed up and another after I signed up. I got no credit.

    • bakakun028

If you actually took the time to read the instructions you will know why

  • Sam Wiggans

I just got $3.01 for signing up..sounds like a sick app! haha

    • TrainAss

      What?! I only for $1 :(

    • LeTricolore

I got $0.91. I guess it depends on where you live, age, etc.

    • Bri Bru

      That’s so strange…

    • craz

For those who got credits, was that for the signup questions or you received a survey after? Did the credit show up right away?

    • TrainAss

I think I did a survey after the initial sign up, just to give you an example of what the surveys will be like, and to ensure you’re a human. As soon as it was done, $1 showed up.

    • Andrew Kachaniwsky

I didn’t get anything for signing up.. but it was nice enough to show me my EXISTING Google Play balance of $7.96 on the Google Opinion Rewards app below a box saying Thanks for signing up… we’ll send you a notification when there’s stuff to do.

    • Sam Wiggans

That’s weird, I only know I got that much because my balance was $0 prior

  • Jonathan G.

Awesome! This will make my bus rides to college and back less boring

  • Josh Brown

    I got 1.85 so far

  • Zee

Found this last night and tried it out. I like free money in the play store for answering a few questions. Makes me more likely to buy apps, so it’s a win win for Google and app developers. This is pretty smart.

  • Lt_Dan

I signed up and didn’t get a dime. Hopefully the credits will start to come in.

  • Bri Bru

I signed up and answered their survey questions and got $0!!! WTH!

    • brararsh

When you signed up, did you click “No Thanks” to the question in which they asked are you open for $0 surveys?
I Did and I only receive paid surveys.. :D

    • Bri Bru

      Yea.. maybe that’s why,,

  • Sam Harb

“I don’t plans to buy a car” good job Google loool

  • Vineet Sharma

Great Concept Win Win for everyone, Marketing companies, App developers and end users…Google always has best ideas in the world..

    • alphs22

      Lolwut?

I agree this is a win-win, but the idea of getting paid to complete surveys is nothing new.

    • Dimitri

This idea has been out for YEARS. Tim Hortons, McDonalds, Blackberry, Apple, Microsoft, Nokia, Sony, Dell, Logitech, Samsung & others have done this before Google has.

It is a great idea & it is a win-win.

  • willson

can you use the credits to buy nexus devices?

    • Brett Gilley

Eventually, but that sounds like 10 years of surveys if you can only do around 1 a week.

    • Senk

I doubt it. I won $25 in play store credit from the Kit Kat contest and tried to use it for an N5 but Google would not allow it.

    • bakakun028

No. Only for apps and such

    • Balls O’Steele

Use it to buy Fongo monthly text packages.

    • blzd

Nope. Read about some folks with $350 in Google Play Store gift cards who were unable to purchase any hardware with it.

    • Richard Wangly

It’s right in the FAQ. Which of course none of those people bothered to read, right?

“Google Play credit cannot be redeemed for Android app subscriptions, or hardware and accessory purchases.”

  • Brett Gilley

Re: varying starting amounts. I would have been tempted to say “I got $0.24 for signing up,” but I think it just shows what your current balance is. You all may have had tidbits left over in your account.

  • blzd

I got $1 from my first actual survey which was 2 questions long. Thanks for the heads up MS.

  • Word

Why the fck are they asking how I feel about the United Nations… The opening survey made me raise my eyebrow HUGE

    • RG

Something totally odd to make sure only really patient people participate? may be? lol

    • blzd

The funny thing is I’m pretty sure that is only there because it asks you if you approve of their actions twice, and makes sure you answer the same. It could be any question really. Probably also scares away the less perceptive.

  • Guest

I downloaded the app, filled out the google wallet info and survey and ended up with a notice of saying whether I will be approved or not. Is that how is it supposed to work? I’m asking this because a lot of people are seeming to get credit instantly.
