Over the weekend, new pieces of the 2013 Nexus 10 puzzle have emerged, revealing that the manufacturer behind the refresh is likely to be Nexus 5 creator, LG, and not Asus as originally suspected.
A leaked (and now removed) product listing for U.K. retailer, Tesco, revealed the upcoming Nexus 10 will sport a 10-inch 2560×1600 pixel IPS display, a quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor running at 2.3Ghz, 3GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage.
At first glance, it’s not clear how much of an improvement this year’s Nexus 10 will be over last year’s model — the original Nexus 10 sported an ultra-fast dual-core Cortex-A15 chip — but the spec sheet also promises 18 hours of battery life and an ultra-low weight of 420 grams. It’s also supposed to offer a 10MP rear camera and 4MP front-facing camera, clearly overkill for a tablet.
Of course, the tablet will also sport Android 4.4 KitKat, but that’s already been rolled out to the 2012 Nexus 10.
It’s also believed that Google will release the LG Nexus 10 on November 22nd to coincide with its tablet-oriented Play Store redesign, and it will also offer an LTE-compatible version sold through the Play Store.
The LG-made tablet, which comes after the company announced its 8.3-inch G Pad earlier this year, sports the model number V510; for comparison, the the G Pad is the LG-V500. The tablet is rumoured to launch in the UK for £299, which works out to be around $500 CDN. The tablet will likely launch at a similar $409 CDN price to last year’s model.
