Speedtest 3.0 comes to Android with new interface and improved testing engine

At long last, Ookla has updated its Speedtest app for Android with a new interface and a bunch of features that are sure to appease frequent users.

The redesign was teased as far back as last summer, and came to iOS and even Windows Phone before arriving on Android today. Nevertheless, this is the app to test network speeds across cellular and WiFi connections, and Ookla has built up a tremendous database of local and international servers to ensure there is no backhaul bottleneck.

The app now allows users to pay a one-time fee of $0.99 to remove ads, and results can be exported to CSV files for later perusal in Excel or Google Docs.

Most importantly, however, is the new design, which feels modern, fast and looks great.
